Yung Money Sets Sights on PCW Titles in 2-Out-of-3 Falls Main Event

Phoenix Championship Wrestling’s top rising tag team, Yung Money — Jaden Monroe and RJ Wylde — will headline the promotion’s biggest show to date next month, and both men made clear in a recent interview that they view it as a defining moment for their careers.

Yung Money will challenge Pretty City Express, the duo of Christopher Landen Anthony Streeter and Devin Reno (collectively known as “CLAS”), for the PCW Tag Team Championships in a 2-out-of-3 falls match at PCWAZ Anniversary 8. The show takes place on September 19 at Skyline High School in Mesa, Arizona, and PCW is billing it as the biggest independent wrestling event in state history, with a stated goal of drawing more than 2,000 fans.

The stipulation was set after Yung Money and Pretty City Express fought to a draw at PCW’s Live on Broadway event, capping off roughly a year of the youngsters chasing the champions from town to town without ever getting the clean win. Monroe and Wylde don’t shy away from the stakes. Monroe said a loss would essentially send the team back to square one. “If we don’t win, it would be our last shot for a while. We would have to go back and rebuild some things,” he said, while Wylde noted the team already knows what that rebuilding process looks like after falling short at Anniversary 7. Both were adamant that going two out of three falls — something Monroe said has never happened in PCW before — finally takes away any excuse for Pretty City Express to steal a win through underhanded tactics.

Beyond the title picture, the interview offered a good look at how Yung Money has developed. The pairing started almost as a joke when trainees began comparing Monroe, who arrived at the PCW training center first, to Wylde once he joined months later — a comparison that turned into real chemistry. Both credited trainers including Dom Vitalli, Jon Wolfgang, Joe Graves and Gabriel Gallo for holding them to a demanding standard, something they feel is increasingly rare on an independent scene that has ballooned with new wrestlers of wildly varying quality. They also pointed to their reps at Future Stars of Wrestling working alongside Chris Bey, who both said looks fully recovered from a recent injury.

Monroe has already gotten a taste of the bigger stage, having appeared on AEW Collision against The Dogs. He described using those opportunities less for exposure and more to soak up knowledge backstage, singling out Jerry Lynn as someone willing to answer any question. Both wrestlers see the independent grind — travel, new audiences, and mentorship from veterans — as the foundation for what comes next, with Monroe outlining a five-year goal of landing a contract that lets him wrestle full time, while Wylde said he simply wants the chance to work in Japan, Mexico and Canada before that happens.

For a promotion touting its own history-making show, having a home-grown act like Yung Money in the main event carries real weight. A clean, decisive win over Pretty City Express wouldn’t just end a year-long chase for the titles — it would validate PCW’s pitch that it’s developing talent capable of thriving on bigger stages, at a moment when both members of the team are already being noticed outside the promotion.
