Lola Vice, Kendal Grey Set For NXT Underground Title Match

NXT has its next NXT Women’s Championship match set, and it comes with a violent twist. Kendal Grey will defend her title against Lola Vice in an NXT Underground match on the August 4 episode of NXT.

Vice earned the title shot by winning a Triple Threat over Kelani Jordan and Kali Armstrong the previous week, putting her in position to reclaim the championship she lost to Grey at The Great American Bash, the first WWE Premium Live Event to air on The CW. Notably, Vice has never lost an NXT Underground match, a stipulation built around bare-knuckle-style fighting rather than traditional in-ring wrestling.

The match was made official during a face-to-face segment between the two women on this week’s NXT. Grey congratulated Vice on securing another opportunity at the title, and Vice acknowledged that Grey had already beaten her in a standard match. But Vice made clear she didn’t believe Grey could beat her in a fight, prompting her to challenge Grey to an NXT Underground bout for the championship. Grey accepted on the spot, setting up the August 4 showdown.

The stipulation has become a signature attraction on NXT, with matches presented as more brawl than wrestling contest. The last NXT Underground bout took place at NXT Vengeance Day on March 7, where Vice defeated Kelani Jordan, continuing her unbeaten run under the format.

Now the question is whether that streak survives contact with championship gold. Grey will need to prove she can match Vice’s intensity in a fight-first environment, while Vice will look to show that her Underground dominance translates into becoming a two-time NXT Women’s Champion. Either way, August 4 promises one of the more physical title matches NXT has booked in recent memory.
