Callum Newman Praises United Empire Ally Jake Lee’s G1 Run

Callum Newman is talking up his United Empire stablemate Jake Lee as the 2026 G1 Climax tournament rolls on. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion sat down for a new interview to discuss his own path through this year’s tournament, and used part of the conversation to shine a light on Lee’s performance in the A Block.

Newman said he’d like to see Lee advance all the way to the A Block semifinals, praising the way his fellow United Empire member performs once he fully commits in the ring. According to Newman, when Lee is truly locked in during a match, he becomes a genuinely great competitor — high praise coming from a wrestler who has held NJPW’s top singles title himself.

The G1 Climax remains one of the most grueling and prestigious tournaments in pro wrestling, with competitors battling through a round-robin block schedule before the top finishers in each block clash in the semifinals and final. Support from within a stable like United Empire, which has built a reputation for camaraderie and shared championship success under Great-O-Khan’s leadership, often becomes a storyline thread as the tournament tightens toward its final stretch.

Newman’s own G1 journey has been a focal point of discussion given his previous run with the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, and his comments suggest he’s keeping close tabs on how his stablemates are faring alongside him. Whether Lee can turn that praise into an actual berth in the A Block semifinals will play out as the tournament continues.

Expect more updates on the G1 Climax standings, including Newman and Lee’s block results, as the tournament moves toward its climactic rounds.
