Tommy Dreamer Praises Rollins’ Promo and LA Knight’s Raw Debut

Tommy Dreamer came away from the latest episode of Raw with plenty to talk about, singling out Seth Rollins and LA Knight as the two biggest standouts of the night.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, the WWE Hall of Famer was effusive about Rollins’ emotionally charged promo building toward his SummerSlam collision with Roman Reigns. What resonated most with Dreamer was the vulnerability Rollins displayed — specifically his admission that he had spent much of his career playing second fiddle to Reigns.

“When he basically says, ‘I knew I’d be second fiddle to Roman,’ that is hard for anyone to swallow,” Dreamer said, adding that the promo gave him “hard times vibes” — a nod to one of the most celebrated speeches in wrestling history.

Dreamer was equally enthusiastic about LA Knight’s arrival on Raw, describing the SmackDown star’s brand debut as an instant hit with the audience. The verbal exchange between Knight and Rollins drew an immediate reaction from the crowd, and Dreamer felt Knight’s natural charisma was on full display from the moment he walked out.

“An electric debut,” Dreamer said. “He had the people, man.”

The segment didn’t stay civil for long. Jimmy Uso crashed the proceedings with a superkick on Knight, drawing heavy heat from the crowd, and the night’s drama continued backstage when Jacob Fatu attacked Knight later in the show. The interweaving of those rivalries gave Dreamer pause, but he ultimately felt the caliber of talent involved carried it.

“It’s wonky, but it’s really, really star power, and I think that’s really what people are caring about right now,” he said.

With SummerSlam on the horizon and Knight now firmly in the mix on Raw, the coming weeks figure to keep that star power front and center.
