Will Ospreay on His 2019–2024 Run: ‘No One Could F*cking Touch Me’

Will Ospreay has never been shy about backing himself, and a recent podcast appearance made that abundantly clear. The WWE star sat down with MVP and Dwayne Swayze on their Marking Out podcast, where conversation turned to some of the standout moments from his career — and Ospreay didn’t hold back when assessing where he stood relative to the rest of the wrestling world during a particular stretch of his run.

Looking back at the 2019-to-2024 window, Ospreay was blunt: “No one could f*cking touch me at that time.” It’s a bold claim, but one that’s hard to dismiss outright. That five-year stretch saw him evolve from a high-flying indie darling into one of the most acclaimed workers on the planet, putting together celebrated runs in NJPW — where he held the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship — before eventually making his way to AEW and then WWE, where he has continued to be regarded as one of the premier in-ring performers anywhere in the world.

Ospreay also indicated that something about how that era has been perceived or remembered bothers him, though the full context of those remarks wasn’t detailed publicly.

For a performer who spent years building his reputation match by match across multiple continents, the confidence is earned. Whether Ospreay is channeling that pride into motivation for his current chapter remains to be seen, but it’s clear he views that five-year stretch as the peak of his powers — and he wants that recognized.
