Mick Foley Names Darby Allin as Dream Opponent If He Ever Came Out of Retirement

Mick Foley has a name in mind if he ever laced up his boots one more time — and it’s Darby Allin.

The hardcore legend, who recently signed with AEW in a broadcasting and event-hosting role, has revisited the idea of a retirement comeback and pointed to the daredevil AEW star as the opponent he’d most want to share a ring with. While Foley hasn’t made any concrete moves toward an in-ring return, the fact that he keeps circling back to the subject is enough to keep fans dreaming.

It’s not hard to see why Allin’s name came up. The AEW standout has built a reputation on the same reckless, body-sacrificing style that defined Foley’s career — a career that included some of the most brutal moments in professional wrestling history. Foley, of course, became a legend through his willingness to absorb punishment that would sideline most performers, and Allin has carried that torch into the modern era with a fearlessness that few in the industry can match.

Foley’s new role with AEW keeps him in the orbit of the company and its talent, which only adds intrigue to the speculation. Whether the match ever materializes is another question entirely — years of accumulated wear and tear make any comeback a significant physical undertaking for Foley — but as a dream matchup, the pairing makes a compelling case for itself almost immediately.

For now, Foley’s focus is on his hosting duties with AEW, but the door to one last dance appears to remain at least slightly ajar.
