Goldberg Names Brock Lesnar His Best Career Opponent: ‘He Was A Mirror Image of Myself’

Goldberg has singled out Brock Lesnar as the best opponent of his career, pointing to their shared physicality and the unique dynamic it created every time they stood across the ring from each other.

Appearing on Going Ringside, Goldberg explained why the rivalry with Lesnar always felt different from anything else in his career. “At the end of the day, Brock Lesnar was my best opponent because he was a mirror image of myself,” Goldberg said. “Just as a blonde wrestler, and I played football. The dynamic of having two absolute monsters in the ring together, I was more excited than anyone because he was a guy that could take it if I hit him.”

The two first crossed paths at WrestleMania 20 in March 2004, during Goldberg’s initial WWE run. A dozen years later they reignited things at Survivor Series 2016 — a match that was over in under 90 seconds — before completing their trilogy at WrestleMania 33 in 2017, where Lesnar defeated Goldberg to capture the WWE Universal Championship.
