Bron Breakker Bristles At Brock Lesnar’s Oba Femi Praise

WWE kept building toward a long-awaited showdown between Bron Breakker and Oba Femi on the August 10 episode of Monday Night Raw, with the two powerhouses coming to the brink of a fight for the second time in recent weeks before officials managed to separate them.

The tension has a new layer to it following Brock Lesnar’s comments after SummerSlam, where he shared the ring with Femi and called the towering NXT standout the future of WWE. That endorsement clearly hasn’t sat well with Breakker, who brought it up himself during a backstage segment with Byron Saxton. Breakker pressed Saxton on whether he genuinely believed Femi was WWE’s future, and when Saxton noted that Lesnar had already said as much, Breakker shot back, “You sound just like Paul Heyman,” before walking off.

That line carries some weight given the history involved. Heyman spent years as Lesnar’s mouthpiece and advocate throughout The Beast’s WWE run, and Breakker himself has been entangled with Heyman through his current alliance with The Vision. Hearing Femi compared favorably to Lesnar — by way of a Heyman-style proclamation — seems to have struck a nerve.

The rivalry escalated further later in the night. After Austin Theory beat Akira Tozawa and continued attacking him following the bell, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce and officials rushed out to stop the assault. Breakker then entered the ring, apparently lining up a Spear on Tozawa, only for Femi’s music to interrupt him. Theory tried to intercept Femi on the way to the ring but was flattened with a boot for his trouble, and Femi turned his focus toward Breakker. Femi climbed onto the apron and took off his necklace as if ready to finally throw hands, but referees and other wrestlers scrambled to keep the two apart, with Logan Paul also helping restrain Breakker.

It’s the second time in recent weeks WWE has pumped the brakes just before letting Breakker and Femi collide, and the animosity between them goes back further than this latest angle. Femi eliminated Breakker early in this year’s Royal Rumble match, a moment that quietly planted the seed for what has become one of the more compelling brewing feuds on the roster.

Both men have been positioned as centerpieces of WWE’s next generation — Breakker as part of The Vision’s power structure alongside Paul, and Femi as NXT’s dominant, seemingly unbeatable champion. Lesnar publicly anointing Femi as the future only sharpens the comparison Breakker seems desperate to reject, and it gives WWE an easy emotional hook to justify the eventual blowoff.

At this point, the story isn’t really about whether Breakker and Femi will finally get into the ring together — it’s about how much longer WWE plans to stretch out the tease before delivering the singles match this angle has clearly been building toward.
