Feature Explores Case For WWE Veteran Stars Faction

A new wrestling feature is making the case that WWE should consider building a faction around its veteran talent, pointing to the current landscape on Raw and SmackDown as evidence of an odd gap. With The Bloodline, Judgment Day, The Vision and The 946 dominating faction-based storytelling on the main roster, there’s no equivalent grouping built around the promotion’s experienced, established stars — despite WWE having plenty of history to draw from.

The piece leans on three historical touchstones. First is WCW’s short-lived Millionaire’s Club from 2000, assembled in response to Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo’s New Blood youth movement and led by Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan alongside names like Sting, Kevin Nash and DDP. It flopped as a heel unit almost instantly — fans simply couldn’t boo Hogan and Flair — and both the Club and New Blood were gone within months.

The second reference point is TNA’s Main Event Mafia, formed in 2008 by Kurt Angle with Sting, Kevin Nash and Booker T before Scott Steiner joined. That faction actually worked, largely because it blended proven veterans with younger stars like Samoa Joe doing much of the in-ring lifting, and it controlled the promotion’s top titles across two separate runs through 2013. The third is WWE’s own Corporation from 1998, Vince and Shane McMahon’s power structure that recruited stars like The Rock, Ken Shamrock and eventually Triple H to police the roster on the company’s behalf.

The feature ties this all back to current storylines, floating the idea that Roman Reigns could eventually walk away from The Bloodline — whether by choice or because of pressure from The 946 — and resurface leading a modern take on the Millionaire’s Club with fellow veterans. It also references LA Knight’s Money in the Bank-era promo, in which he said politics and stars like Reigns had held him back, as the kind of frustration a veteran faction storyline could tap into. A Triple H quote about earning top spots — naming Cody Rhodes, Reigns, CM Punk, Liv Morgan and IYO SKY as the benchmark — is cited as evidence the idea of ‘get there or get held back’ is already part of WWE’s real-world messaging to its locker room.

None of this points to anything imminent; it’s a conceptual pitch rather than a report of plans in motion. But it’s not hard to see why the idea has legs. WWE’s roster is deep with credible veterans — beyond Reigns, think of names like Randy Orton, Seth Rollins or Drew McIntyre — who could believably anchor a faction built on experience clashing with youth, especially with call-ups from NXT accelerating. Whether WWE ever builds something like a modern Main Event Mafia remains to be seen, but the underlying tension between established stars and hungry newcomers is already baked into weekly television. It wouldn’t take much for creative to formalize it into a full-blown stable.
