Speculation Grows Over Potential Grayson Waller NXT Faction

Grayson Waller’s reign atop WWE NXT has fans wondering whether “The Aussie Icon” is about to build himself some backup. Waller returned to the black-and-gold brand in July and wasted no time targeting the top prize, ultimately capturing the NXT Championship at Heatwave 2026 by outlasting Tony D’Angelo, Zilla Fatu and Cruz Montana in a multi-man matchup. With the rest of the roster now lining up to dethrone him, chatter has picked up about which names could realistically align with Waller to help him keep the title.

A few candidates stand out based on recent storyline threads. The Dropouts — Australian independent standouts Scott Green and The Tuckman — arrived at the Performance Center as part of WWE’s September 2026 recruit class and have already crossed paths with Waller, handing him a shoe for a celebratory “Shoey” after his first successful title defense. That moment alone has fueled speculation that the tag team could be folded into a Waller-led group.

Josh Briggs is another name in the conversation. The five-year NXT veteran has been off television in recent months despite being one of the more underrated hands on the roster, and a Waller alliance could give him a fresh on-screen role as enforcer for a champion looking to fend off a crowded contender list.

The Creed Brothers also fit the pattern. Julius and Brutus Creed recently made their way back to NXT after a stint on the main roster and have entered the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in pursuit of becoming two-time winners. A partnership with Waller could serve both parties as they work to reestablish themselves on the brand.

Then there’s ZARIA, the reigning NXT Women’s North American Champion and a fellow Australian talent who has been on NXT television since signing in 2024. Her high-profile split from Sol Ruca earlier this year left her without an obvious ally, and teaming with a countryman like Waller could give her storyline a new direction while adding muscle to his corner.

None of this is confirmed by WWE, and Waller hasn’t said a word about forming any kind of stable — this is all speculation built off breadcrumbs the product has dropped in recent weeks. But the pieces are there for a reason. NXT has leaned into Waller’s underdog-turned-top-guy arc since his title win, and giving him a crew would both protect the championship storyline and give a handful of underused or newly repositioned talents a clearer purpose on the show.

If WWE does go this route, expect it to unfold gradually on NXT television rather than all at once. Waller has built his run on charisma and self-promotion as much as in-ring results, and a faction would only work if it reinforces that persona rather than overshadowing it.
