Cody Rhodes Opens Up About His In-Ring Retirement Timeline

Cody Rhodes may be at the peak of his WWE career right now, but the Undisputed WWE Champion is already giving serious thought to life after full-time competition. In a recent candid conversation about his future, Rhodes addressed how much longer he realistically sees himself performing at the top level of the business.

For a performer who spent years grinding through the independents and building his own promotion before finally completing his ‘American Nightmare’ story back in WWE, the topic of retirement carries genuine weight. Rhodes famously returned to WWE after years away and captured the Undisputed WWE Championship, fulfilling a goal he had spoken about publicly for much of his career. That kind of milestone naturally invites reflection on what comes next.

With Night of Champions on the horizon, Rhodes remains one of WWE’s most prominent figures both in and out of the ring. His crossover appeal — built through years of work in multiple promotions, his own media ventures, and a mainstream visibility that few wrestlers achieve — means a post-in-ring future likely holds plenty of opportunities whenever that day comes.

Retirement timelines in professional wrestling are always subject to change, and plenty of performers have found second winds well past the point they expected to wind down. Still, the fact that Rhodes is thinking openly and candidly about the subject suggests he has a clear-eyed view of his career arc — which, given how methodically he has approached his professional life, shouldn’t surprise anyone who has followed his journey closely.
