Like father, like son. Avery Styles is set to step into the ring for the first time professionally, and he’ll have one of the greatest wrestlers of all time backing him up when he does.
Avery, the son of AJ Styles, has been announced for SCA Wrestling’s Freedom Fling event, scheduled for Friday, June 26 at the Royston Dome in Royston, Georgia. Avery will face Ashton Martin in what marks his official debut as a professional wrestler, and AJ Styles himself will be in his son’s corner for the occasion.
The elder Styles needs little introduction — a multi-time world champion across virtually every major promotion he’s worked for, AJ has spent decades building a legacy that puts him in conversations about the greatest in-ring performers of all generation. Now, he’ll take on a different kind of role: corner man and, presumably, proud father.
Royston, Georgia holds particular significance as AJ Styles’ hometown, making the setting all the more meaningful for this family milestone. Debuting in front of a home crowd with your legendary father ringside is about as storybook a launch as any young wrestler could ask for.
Details on the rest of the Freedom Fling card have not yet been fully announced, but the Styles family presence alone makes this a marquee moment for the regional indie scene. Whether Avery has the goods to carve out his own path in the business remains to be seen, but he’s certainly getting his start under the brightest possible spotlight.
