Gangrel Says He Has No WWE Legends Deal

Gangrel remains without a WWE Legends contract despite his lasting connection to one of the Attitude Era’s most memorable factions.

The former Brood leader helped launch the careers of Edge and Christian, both of whom went on to become multi-time world champions before eventually reuniting in AEW as Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. The Brood’s blood-red aesthetic and gothic entrance became one of the signature images of that period, and the group’s influence has never fully faded from view. Edge himself made that clear at WrestleMania 39, paying tribute to the Brood during his entrance in a moment that lit up social media and reminded a new generation of fans where his character’s roots really began.

That kind of nostalgia has become a valuable commodity for WWE in recent years, with the company regularly bringing back Attitude Era and Ruthless Aggression names for cameos, one-off matches, and Hall of Fame inductions. Legends deals have become common for performers from that stretch of history, giving WWE the rights to use their likenesses in merchandise, video games, and archival footage in exchange for a contract. Despite the goodwill fans still hold for Gangrel and the Brood, he has not landed that same arrangement with the company.

Gangrel has remained a fixture on the independent scene and convention circuit since his time in WWE, staying connected to fans even without an official company tie. His comments shine a light on the gap that can exist between a performer’s lingering popularity and WWE’s willingness to formalize that relationship on paper, even when the character in question helped shape two Hall of Fame-caliber careers.

Whether that status changes down the line remains to be seen, but for now the Brood’s legacy lives on largely through the memories of fans and the occasional tribute from the students he helped create.
