KUSHIDA Puts MLW Middleweight Title on the Line in Four-Way at FantasticaMania USA

The MLW World Middleweight Championship is heading into a four-way collision on Saturday, July 18, when CONTRA Unit’s KUSHIDA defends against three challengers drawn from three different promotions at FantasticaMania USA in Charleston.

Joining KUSHIDA in the title match are CMLL standout Templario, independent scene fixture Alan Angels, and NJPW’s Taiji Ishimori — a lineup that underscores exactly the cross-promotional ambition FantasticaMania USA was designed to showcase. With competitors representing MLW, CMLL, and NJPW all competing under a single set of stakes, the middleweight division could look very different by the time the dust settles.

KUSHIDA arrives as the calculating, calculating force under the CONTRA banner, a champion who blends technical mastery with the cold edge his faction is known for. Templario brings power and main-event pedigree from the CMLL ranks, while Ishimori — a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion — brings the kind of speed and predatory instinct that can flip a match in seconds. Alan Angels, meanwhile, has been circling the middleweight title for some time and will treat this four-way as his most significant opportunity yet.

Four-way title matches by their nature are unpredictable: no disqualification protection for the champion, and only one pinfall or submission needed from anyone in the match to change history. For any of the three challengers, this is an opening; for KUSHIDA, it is a test of whether CONTRA’s precision can hold up against chaos.

MLW FUSION streams free on YouTube on Saturday, July 18 at 6:05 PM ET, with the show also available on VEEPS at 9:00 PM ET and on beIN SPORTS at 10:00 PM ET. International viewers can catch it on NJPW WORLD on Monday, July 20 at 12:00 PM JST.
