Tommy Dreamer Praises Oba Femi but Cautions Against Complacency, Defends Brock Lesnar’s Place in WWE

Tommy Dreamer has weighed in on Oba Femi’s growing momentum in WWE, offering both praise for the rising powerhouse and a word of caution as his high-profile push continues to build toward SummerSlam.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Dreamer broke down a recent segment on WWE Raw in which Femi faced off with Paul Heyman, making his case for why he intends to defeat Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam. Dreamer came away impressed, particularly by how Femi carried himself against one of the most experienced talkers in wrestling history.

“Oba started proving to Paul why he’s the ruler and why he’s going to beat Brock, and then you saw the fear in Paul Heyman’s face,” Dreamer said.

Still, the ECW legend urged Femi to keep his feet on the ground. In WWE, Dreamer noted, fan loyalty can shift quickly when a performer starts to look too comfortable at the top of the card. “Humility is key for people when you’re getting the push, because the fans could turn on you,” he said.

Dreamer also pushed back on the growing sentiment that WWE should phase Lesnar out of its main event picture. Far from ready to see The Beast step aside, Dreamer was direct: “I don’t know why everyone wants to get rid of Brock Lesnar. I do not, and I want to continue to see Brock Lesnar in the WWE.”

On Femi’s long-term ceiling, Dreamer acknowledged the potential while tempering expectations for the immediate future. “Oba Femi is your future, obviously, but we still got to get him there, and he’s on that path,” he said.

With Femi and Lesnar set to clash inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam, the match carries the weight of a potential changing-of-the-guard moment — and based on Dreamer’s assessment, Femi is moving in the right direction, even if the destination is still a few stops away.
