Damian Priest isn’t going anywhere just yet — but the 43-year-old former World Heavyweight Champion has a clear ceiling in mind for how long he plans to compete.
Appearing on Chris Distefano’s podcast Chris D Comedy, Priest opened up about where he sees his career heading after more than 680 matches in professional wrestling. While he hasn’t pinpointed a specific retirement date, he’s firm that he won’t be lacing up his boots into his fifties.
“I don’t have a number. I don’t have a time, but I know that I’m going to listen to my body,” Priest said. “I don’t know how much time I have left, but I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. But at the same time, into my 50s, definitely not. Before 50, I would be done.”
Priest emphasized that his exit will be dictated by his body rather than a predetermined schedule, and that for now he remains fully committed to performing at the top level.
The conversation also turned personal when Priest confirmed his relationship with WWE NXT’s Lola Vice — something the couple has kept relatively low-key until now. Priest said dating a fellow wrestler has taken much of the friction out of life on the road.
“I think it’s easier because she’s in the business and she understands because she’s doing it,” he explained. “She goes on the road and I’m home and I don’t see her… So it’s kind of cool because I understand.” He added that the mutual understanding eliminates the tension many couples face when one partner travels constantly: “At least she gets it. And when we do have time together, we’re perfectly happy.”
When asked pointedly if he was talking about Vice, Priest didn’t hesitate. “She’s spicy Cuban. She is Lola Vice from NXT.”
As for whether their real-life relationship might eventually play out on WWE television, Priest said he’s open to it under the right circumstances. “If it benefits the show, I’m all for it,” he said, noting that he and Vice have discussed the possibility. His only condition: he doesn’t want Vice’s on-screen identity reduced to simply being his partner.
With Priest still a featured presence on WWE programming, any creative integration of their relationship — should it happen — figures to generate considerable interest from a fanbase that already follows both performers closely.
