WWE NXT went on the air on August 25, 2026, with a stacked go-home show ahead of NXT Heatwave, headlined by a violent Weaponized Steel Cage Match and a championship summit that ended in chaos.

Saquon Shugars settled his score with former friend Dion Lennox inside a Weaponized Steel Cage, with both men using chairs, trash cans and kendo sticks throughout the brutal encounter. Despite a badly hurt knee, Shugars climbed to the top of the cage late in the match and connected with a crossbody dive to secure the win over Lennox.

Elsewhere, Keanu Carver picked up another victory, this time over Kam Hendrix, with help from Mason Rook. When Hendrix tried to bail to the floor, Rook cut him off with a running crossbody and threw him back inside, setting up Carver’s Perfectplex for the finish.

In a pivotal non-title match, Kali Armstrong upset NXT Women’s North American Champion Zaria by countering an attempted F-5 into a roll-up pin. The win adds Armstrong to the previously scheduled Title Unification Match at Heatwave, turning it into a Triple Threat.

The eight-man tag saw BirthRight’s Uriah Connors, Lexis King and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo team with Charlie Dempsey to take on Noam Dar, Romeo Moreno, Dorian Van Dux and Sean Legacy. After Moreno, Van Dux and Legacy had cleared the ring of the other BirthRight members, Dempsey turned the tide by hitting Dar with a suplex into a bridging pin for the win.

In a title defense contested under the AAA banner, Rey Fenix retained his AAA Cruiserweight Championship against EK Prosper in a hard-fought back-and-forth. Prosper impressed with a moonsault to the outside and a top-rope leg drop, but after missing a second moonsault attempt, Fenix capitalized with his Mexican Musclebuster to keep the title.

The night closed with the NXT Heatwave Summit, bringing together NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo, NXT Women’s Champion Kendal Grey and their respective challengers for Heatwave. The segment quickly spiraled into an all-out brawl involving everyone on the stage.
