Who Could Be WWE’s Next Grand Slam Champion?

WWE’s Grand Slam Championship remains one of the promotion’s more quietly prestigious accomplishments, and a handful of current stars sit just one title away from officially completing the set. For the men, that means capturing a World Title, the Intercontinental Championship, the United States Championship, and a Tag Team Championship at some point in their career. For the women, WWE currently defines the feat as winning the Women’s (Raw) and Women’s World (SmackDown) Championships along with the NXT Women’s and Women’s Tag Team Titles — though that definition hasn’t yet been updated to account for the newer Women’s Intercontinental and United States Championships.

On the men’s side, Cody Rhodes stands out as the most obvious candidate. Despite two separate runs in the company, the United States Championship is the lone title missing from his résumé, and given how deliberately WWE has built his story since his return, that gap feels less like an oversight and more like a chapter still waiting to be written. Drew McIntyre is in a similar spot, needing only the U.S. Title himself, and with speculation swirling about a move back to SmackDown, a chase for that championship would double as a natural reintroduction angle.

CM Punk, already the fastest Triple Crown winner in company history at 203 days, is missing only the United States Championship as well. Given how WWE has used late-career title runs for legends before — John Cena’s Intercontinental Championship pursuit being the clearest parallel — a U.S. Title reign for Punk during a future retirement arc wouldn’t be surprising. Damian Priest and Jey Uso are further out but plausible, each needing the Intercontinental or U.S. Title respectively depending on where their current storylines take them.

On the women’s side, the path looks murkier. Both Alexa Bliss and Bianca Belair came up through a loaded NXT women’s division and left the brand without ever capturing the NXT Women’s Championship, leaving that title as the missing piece for each. Neither seems likely to head back down to NXT at this stage of their main roster careers, though Becky Lynch did exactly that in 2023 to complete her own Grand Slam.

A couple of longer shots round out the conversation. Matt Cardona, who returned to WWE and won the WWE Championship in January, would need to add tag, Intercontinental and United States gold to finish the set — a tall order, but not unthinkable if he returns from injury with that goal in mind. Shinsuke Nakamura remains the outlier: a decade into his WWE tenure, he’s never captured a World Championship despite multiple high-profile title matches against the likes of AJ Styles and Seth Rollins, and there’s little indication that’s changing anytime soon.

The Grand Slam has never been a title WWE actively chases for its stars — it tends to happen organically as championship runs pile up over a career. But with names like Rhodes, McIntyre and Punk all sitting one belt away, it wouldn’t take much for WWE’s list of Grand Slam Champions to grow before long.
