Vince Russo Defends TNA Book Against ‘Revisionist History’ Claim

Vince Russo is not backing down after learning that someone who appeared on Dark Side of the Ring took issue with the version of events he lays out in his new book, Total Non-Stop Agony: The Rise and Fall of TNA, reportedly calling his account “revisionist history.”

Russo responded with a lengthy post on social media, arguing the accusation doesn’t hold up given what he says he sacrificed when he left TNA. He described walking away from a six-figure position with no other job lined up, putting his family’s financial security at risk in the process. To Russo, that’s not the behavior of someone spinning a self-serving narrative.

“I heard somebody who appeared on the ‘DSOTR’ alluded that my story, which you can read in my new book, ‘Total Non-Stop Agony: The Rise and Fall of TNA’ is… ‘Revisionist History’? Really? I ‘Changed’ History? Rewrote it? Made it up? Is that why I left a six-figure job with nothing lined up once I left? Not knowing how I was going to support my family? No Plan B? Nothing,” he wrote.

Russo went on to describe the backstage atmosphere at TNA as something he simply couldn’t continue to endure, saying it took a toll on him well beyond the professional. He noted that even Dixie Carter tried to talk him out of leaving, but he felt he had no choice.

“I walked away from a well paying job, that literally thousands would have killed for, with some thinking I was crazy and despite Dixie Carter trying to talk me out of it… WHY? It’s simple, it became UNBEARABLE. It was an environment that I could no longer exist in. With Politicians I could no longer work with… or, even look at. It was affecting my health, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.”

From there, his post took aim at unnamed figures he believes have never owned up to their role in the company’s backstage turmoil, accusing them of dodging accountability while pretending to have been bystanders. He was careful, however, to clarify that his frustration wasn’t directed at Dixie Carter or Jeff Jarrett, tagging both by name to make that distinction clear.

Russo also drew a sharp contrast between his TNA tenure and his current gig with Juggalo Championship Wrestling, crediting owner Joe Bruce — better known as Violent J of Insane Clown Posse — with running a promotion free of the political backstabbing he says defined his TNA experience. He praised Bruce as someone who earned his position through hard work and talent rather than backstage maneuvering.

Russo remains one of the most divisive figures in wrestling-media history, largely due to his controversial creative stints in both WWE and TNA during the early 2000s. His new book is clearly positioned as his definitive rebuttal to decades of criticism, and this latest flare-up shows he has no interest in letting anyone else control that narrative — especially not without a fight. Whether or not the unnamed Dark Side of the Ring guest responds remains to be seen, but Russo has made his position unmistakably clear: this is his story, told his way, and he’s not walking it back.
