Tommaso Ciampa Issues Challenge to Chris Jericho, Match Set for AEW Dynamite Beach Break on July 8

Tommaso Ciampa and Chris Jericho are headed for a one-on-one collision. During the June 20 edition of AEW Collision, the two came face to face in an interview segment, and Ciampa wasted little time making his intentions clear — telling Jericho that he had been waiting to see this version of him since the very beginning, then issuing a direct challenge for a match at AEW Dynamite Beach Break.

Jericho accepted, making Ciampa vs. Jericho official for the July 8 Dynamite Beach Break special, which airs live on TBS at 8/7c.

The segment added real heat to what has been a compelling new chapter for Ciampa since his arrival in AEW. A decorated veteran of NXT and one of the most respected technical brawlers in the game, Ciampa has been eager to prove himself against the company’s top names, and Jericho — currently operating in one of the more villainous incarnations of his career — is about as high-profile a target as AEW has to offer.

For Jericho, the match represents another opportunity to cement his standing as one of AEW’s central antagonists. His current character work has drawn significant attention, and it’s exactly that version of Jericho that Ciampa said he’s been wanting to get his hands on.

Dynamite Beach Break on July 8 is shaping up to be a marquee event on AEW’s summer calendar, and Ciampa vs. Jericho figures to be one of its signature matchups.
