The Miz Drains His First-Ever Birdie at American Century Championship

The Miz has long billed himself as awesome, and on Monday, July 13, he backed that up on the golf course. The WWE Superstar sank a birdie on the 18th hole at the American Century Championship, holing out from roughly 70 yards away in what marked the first birdie of his career at the celebrity golf tournament.

Miz made the moment even more on-brand by suiting up in Tiger Woods’ signature red-and-black color scheme for the round, leaning into the showmanship that has defined his professional wrestling career. The long-range chip-in on 18 gave him a proper sendoff on the hole and a milestone he had been chasing across his appearances at the annual Lake Tahoe event.

The American Century Championship draws a mix of current and former professional athletes alongside celebrities and entertainers each year, and Miz has been a recurring participant. Despite his competitive nature — and his willingness to remind anyone within earshot that he is, in fact, awesome — a birdie had eluded him at this particular event until now.

For a performer who has built a career on turning doubters into believers, finally carding that elusive birdie figures to be a talking point Miz won’t let go of anytime soon. Whether it translates into any in-ring material remains to be seen, but given his track record of mining every real-life moment for character gold, don’t be surprised if he finds a way to bring it up on WWE television.
