Tama Tonga & Talla Tonga Walk Out on Solo Sikoa, MFT Faction Officially Dissolved on WWE SmackDown

Solo Sikoa is officially flying solo. On the June 26 edition of WWE SmackDown, Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga formally walked away from Sikoa’s MFT — My Family Tree — faction, leaving the self-styled tribal chief without a single ally.

The split had been a long time coming. Tensions between Sikoa and Tama Tonga had been simmering for months, and things boiled over last week when Sikoa accidentally cost Tama and Talla their shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships against Damian Priest and R-Truth. That proved to be the final straw, and on Friday night the brothers made their exit official.

The faction had already been gutted before this week’s developments. JC Mateo and Tonga Loa were among the wrestlers cut in WWE’s post-WrestleMania talent purge back in April, so when Tama and Talla departed, Sikoa was left with nobody. He quickly attempted to remedy that by approaching LA Knight — whom he had helped pick up a victory against Jimmy Uso on this past Monday’s Raw — with a proposition to team up and take out the entire Bloodline, including Jacob Fatu, The Usos, and Roman Reigns himself. Knight acknowledged that he hates the Bloodline and that he could use backup, but he turned Sikoa down flat, saying he simply can’t trust that Sikoa won’t eventually find his way back to the family he claims to despise.

Meanwhile, Tama and Talla’s post-MFT future is already taking shape. In a backstage segment, Finn Balor crossed paths with the brothers, and he and Tama openly acknowledged their history together in NJPW. Balor appeared to be feeling out the possibility of rekindling that alliance, but the conversation took a pointed turn when Tama brought up his own past with Shinsuke Nakamura — noting that he had recently put Nakamura on the shelf. The camera held on Balor’s reaction as the Tongas walked off, a deliberate tease that this storyline has more chapters ahead.

With Sikoa adrift and Tama and Talla apparently being courted by Balor, SmackDown’s midcard landscape looks considerably different heading into the weeks ahead.
