Six Free Agents Who Could Land in WWE AAA as the Brand Continues to Build Momentum in 2026

WWE AAA has emerged as one of the hottest brands in professional wrestling in 2026, and with that momentum comes the opportunity to reshape its roster. From international lucha libre stars to rising names out of the WWE ID program, several free agents and soon-to-be free agents make compelling cases for a landing spot in Mexico.

At the top of the list is Hiromu Takahashi. “The Ticking Time Bomb” shocked fans by announcing his departure from New Japan Pro Wrestling following The New Beginning in Osada, ending a 15-year run with the promotion. Given that Takahashi previously completed a CMLL excursion and built history with Dragon Lee in Mexico, a WWE AAA debut would carry real narrative weight and bring a legitimate international star to the brand.

Another name generating buzz is Persephone, currently the CMLL Women’s World Champion and the first female wrestler to sign a dual contract with All Elite Wrestling. The 24-year-old recently confirmed that her commitments to both companies are set to expire at the end of 2026, and WWE has reportedly shown interest. Her combination of experience in Mexico and in the U.S. market would make her a cornerstone of the AAA women’s division.

Soberano Jr. rounds out the high-profile lucha libre targets. One of the most over luchadors performing at Arena Mexico today, Soberano signed a three-year deal with CMLL back in 2023 — a contract that is set to expire later this year, putting him back on the market.

On the developmental side, two names from the WWE ID program stand out. Gianna Capri has quickly turned heads with her charisma and poise, drawing on years of indie experience and recent work on the Evolve brand. Santi Rivera, a Puerto Rican star who has become a prominent figure on Evolve as part of The Mog Squad alongside Max Abrams, CJ Valor, and Jabari Ball, could benefit enormously from the seasoning that a run in Lucha Libre AAA would provide — much like Jack Cartwheel before him.

Finally, STARDOM’s Xena — an Australian-born performer with a strong in-ring reputation built in Japan — has drawn reported interest from WWE as her deal with the Japanese promotion nears its end. Her look and experience would add something unique to the AAA women’s picture.

With its roster still taking shape and free agency offering no shortage of intriguing options, WWE AAA appears well-positioned to make some significant additions in the months ahead.
