Shiloh Hill Embraces “The Fog” in Chilling Character Evolution on NXT

Something wicked this way comes to WWE NXT — and its name is The Fog.

On the July 14 edition of NXT, Shiloh Hill’s ongoing rivalry with Tristan Angels took a genuinely unsettling turn, as a segment centered on Hill’s famous fake front tooth ended with what appears to be the birth of a darker, more sinister version of the fan-favorite eccentric.

Angels opened the segment by striding to the ring with Hill’s signature prop tooth in hand, using it to mock his rival. He framed the fake tooth as a mask Hill hides behind — a tool that lets him project the image of someone “normal and respectable” rather than the “creepy hillbilly weirdo” Angels claims him to be. To drive that point home, Angels placed the tooth on the steel ring steps and stomped it to pieces.

Rather than confront Angels in person, Hill responded via pre-recorded video — and what followed was far from the expected fired-up rebuttal. Hill acknowledged that Angels had a point. The fake tooth, he said, had allowed him to smile, to fit in. But destroying it hadn’t broken him. Instead, Hill said, it had freed his mind.

His tone grew increasingly eerie from there, as he repeated the phrase “The fog is coming” before dissolving into unsettling laughter. On cue, thick fog rolled through the entranceway, hammering home that Hill is leaning into something darker and more supernatural.

The confrontation is the latest escalation in a feud that has been building for weeks. Things first boiled over during the Mr. NXT Pageant, where Hill’s off-kilter personality carried him to victory before Angels leveled him with a steel chair. Hill answered back by defeating Angels at the Great American Bash, but Tuesday’s segment signals the rivalry is far from settled — and that Hill is evolving in ways nobody quite anticipated.

It’s worth noting that Hill’s missing front tooth is genuine, not a gimmick — the former Stanford football player and WWE LFG Season 2 winner has leaned into it as a defining character trait since arriving in NXT. The prop that Angels destroyed was simply a replica. With “The Fog” now attached to his presentation, Hill appears poised to enter his most compelling — and unpredictable — chapter yet.
