Sami Callihan Breaks Silence on TNA Release: ‘They Made a Terrible Mistake’

Sami Callihan is not staying quiet about his departure from TNA. The veteran has gone on record about his release, making clear he believes the promotion made a significant error in letting him go.

Callihan revealed that ahead of his release, he genuinely believed he was on the verge of landing a creative role within TNA — a position he had been working toward for years. That opportunity never materialized. Instead, his exit came as part of a broader restructuring process the promotion recently undertook.

The timing makes the situation sting a bit more for Callihan. After years of establishing himself as one of TNA’s most distinctive personalities — both in the ring and in terms of his overall character work — he felt he was finally close to stepping into a behind-the-scenes capacity that could have extended his influence well beyond his in-ring contributions. To have that pulled away, alongside his contract, is clearly something he hasn’t been able to simply move past.

Callihan’s run with TNA spanned multiple stints and included some of the promotion’s more memorable moments in recent memory. His willingness to speak candidly about the circumstances of his exit is consistent with the no-filter approach he’s always taken throughout his career.

With TNA continuing to reshape its roster and internal structure, Callihan now finds himself a free agent — and given the directness of his comments, it seems safe to say he has no shortage of motivation to prove the promotion wrong.
