Ryan Clancy Ahead of Schedule in ACL Recovery But No Return Date in Sight

By PW Exclusive Pipeline·June 21, 2026

Ryan Clancy is making encouraging progress on his road back from a serious knee injury, though a definitive return timeline remains off the table for now.

The Wrestling Open standout vacated the Wrestling Open Championship back in April before revealing the full extent of his injury: a torn ACL combined with a medial meniscus tear — the kind of diagnosis that typically sidelines athletes for the better part of a year or more. By that measure, the news on his recovery has been relatively positive.

In a recent interview, Clancy addressed where things stand physically. “We’re still a ways away for sure,” he acknowledged, though the larger picture appears to be trending in the right direction, with reports indicating he is tracking well ahead of his expected recovery schedule.

That’s a meaningful development for a wrestler who had built real momentum before being forced to step away. Clancy had established himself as a credible title holder in Wrestling Open, and giving up the championship mid-reign due to injury is never an easy circumstance for any competitor. The fact that his body is responding ahead of projections at least offers some optimism for his eventual return.

For now, though, no concrete timetable has been set for when fans can expect to see him back between the ropes. The focus remains squarely on the rehabilitation process, and the priority will be making sure he returns fully healthy rather than rushing back too soon.
