Robbie X Wishes Former Bullet Club War Dogs Well in AEW: ‘Things Are Going Well For Every Single One of Us’

Robbie X has weighed in on the AEW move made by his former Bullet Club War Dogs stablemates, and he couldn’t be more supportive.

In a recent interview on SonaIsLife, the NJPW star spoke warmly about David Finlay, Clark Connors, and Gabe Kidd — now operating in AEW under the name The Dogs — following their departure from New Japan earlier this year. All three signed with AEW in March, having previously been central figures in Bullet Club War Dogs alongside Robbie X and Drilla Moloney.

“I’m happy for them,” Robbie X said. “We’re now part of Unbound (Robbie X & Drilla Moloney), so yeah, I’m happy for them. They’re clearly doing great things over there. Gabe obviously just came back at Dominion and forced himself on the show. I don’t know how Dan (Drilla) feels about that, but obviously, Clark and Finlay have got a championship match at Forbidden Door. So things are going well for every single one of us.”

Kidd’s return at Dominion was notable — the AEW star had been sidelined since Dynasty in April with an injury, and he wasted no time making an impact by attacking IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion Shota Umino. Meanwhile, Connors and Finlay are heading into Forbidden Door with gold on the line, giving the former War Dogs plenty of momentum on their new roster.

As for Robbie X himself, life after the War Dogs continues under the Unbound banner alongside Drilla Moloney. He’s no stranger to the crossover circuit — last year’s Forbidden Door saw him team with Connors and Moloney in a Zero Hour pre-show match against The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Samoa Joe), a bout the trio came up short in. More recently, he’s been extending his international footprint with appearances in CMLL, adding to an already impressive resume that includes a run as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion alongside Taiji Ishimori.

At 31, Robbie X has been competing professionally since 2007 — making him one of the more quietly seasoned performers in the game today. Will Ospreay has publicly called him “the best junior heavyweight for the last four years,” a ringing endorsement from someone who knows the division inside out.

With the three-way relationship between NJPW, AEW, and CMLL continuing to create opportunities, Robbie X appears well-positioned to keep expanding his profile — even as his former running partners make their mark on a different stage.
