Phoenix Championship Wrestling Eyes Arizona Attendance Record at Anniversary 8

Phoenix Championship Wrestling is set to hold its biggest show of the year on Saturday, September 19, as the Mesa, Arizona-based independent promotion presents Anniversary 8 at Skyline High School. Organizers are hoping the event draws more than 2,000 fans, a number that would make it the largest independent wrestling event in state history.

The show is headlined by a Tag Team Championship match with a 2-out-of-3-falls stipulation, as longtime champions Pretty City Xpress — CLAS and Devin Reno — defend against Yung Money’s Jaden Monroe and RJ Wylde, accompanied by Money Mac. Yung Money has been chasing the titles since Anniversary 7 last year, including a bout that ended in a draw at PCW’s Live on Broadway show. The multi-fall format is designed to strip away any shortcuts, meaning the champions will need a clean sweep to keep their reign alive.

In the other marquee title match, WWE EVOLVE’s CJ Valor — known to PCW audiences as Jimmy House — defends the promotion’s top singles title against Kevin Koa, the man he beat for the belt back in May. Koa earned this rematch by winning a battle royal in July, and there’s extra history at play: Koa also defeated House at last year’s Anniversary 7, setting up a rematch with real stakes.

Elsewhere on the card, Tommy 2 Scoops squares off with MBW in a grudge match that has been building for half a year, with intrigue added by Tommy’s recent masked run as El Mucho Escoopo, which may have ruffled feathers with “MK” Matthew Roblez. MLW’s Zamaya, billed as an Arizona original and “The World Beater,” takes on independent standout BECCA in a notable women’s matchup. The SLAM U Championship is also up for grabs, with Remy Marcel defending in a four-way scramble against Brady Utah, El Valiente, Trey Karter, and Jakob East, the latter having chased the title for some time.

The undercard includes Joe Graves going up against Enrique Calderon, Freddy Cordova taking on the towering Lord Drako, and Stanley Logan facing Joey Hendrix. Former WWE talent Jimmy Snuka Jr., who wrestled as “Deuce,” is also scheduled to appear.

For a regional promotion, tying together a full year of storylines into one flagship show — and doing it with names tied to WWE, EVOLVE, and MLW — is a meaningful marker of how far PCW’s reach has grown. Independent wrestling success is often measured in exactly these terms: consistent build, marquee crossover talent, and a report crowd that reflects real audience investment rather than a one-off spike.
