NXT Heatwave PLE and AAA Double-Header Announced for August 30 in Edinburg, Texas

Two major wrestling brands are headed to South Texas on the same night. NXT’s Heatwave Premium Live Event and a Lucha Libre AAA show have been announced as a back-to-back doubleheader on August 30 at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas.

The news broke while the 2026 NXT Great American Bash PLE was still underway, adding some extra buzz to an already eventful evening for the brand. The format will see AAA take the stage first, with NXT’s Heatwave PLE following to close out the night at the same venue.

Edinburg sits in the Rio Grande Valley, a region with deep roots in lucha libre fandom and a natural crossover audience for both NXT and AAA. Pairing the two promotions for a single-night event plays directly into that market, giving both brands a chance to reach fans who follow wrestling on both sides of the border.

NXT and AAA have maintained a working relationship as part of WWE’s broader international outreach, and an event like this — co-branded, back-to-back, in a city well-suited for it — is a tangible example of that partnership in action. Heatwave has become a reliable fixture on the NXT calendar, and landing it alongside an AAA card in Edinburg gives the PLE an added significance heading into the second half of 2026.

Further details on both events, including card announcements, are expected in the weeks ahead.
