Nic Nemeth Captures TNA World Title at Slammiversary, Explains His Mindset in the Ring

Nic Nemeth is the new TNA World Champion, and he’s already opening up about the mentality that got him there.

Slammiversary was headlined by Nemeth challenging Mike Santana for the TNA World Championship, and when the night was over, it was Nemeth standing tall as the new titleholder. With that victory now in the books, Nemeth sat down on the Rewind Recap Relive podcast with host Jonah to break down what was going through his mind during the match.

When the conversation turned to the match’s finish, Nemeth explained exactly what he was going for in terms of the emotional arc. He wanted the audience to be fully invested in the moment — to feel it — and then, almost as a gut punch, be reminded of who they were dealing with.

“I wanted it to be emotional for everybody, then let them know I’m dead inside and that’s why nobody beats me,” Nemeth said.

It’s a revealing window into how Nemeth approaches his character work. Rather than playing purely to the crowd’s sympathy, he’s leaning into a colder, more calculated edge — using the audience’s emotions as a setup before pulling the rug out.

The win is a significant moment for Nemeth, who has firmly established himself as one of TNA’s marquee names since joining the company. Capturing the World Championship at one of TNA’s biggest annual events puts an exclamation point on that run and sets the stage for what figures to be a prominent reign at the top of the card.
