Michael Cole Calls Sami Zayn the Victor Wembanyama of WWE, Labels Him ‘Entitled and Spoiled’

Michael Cole has never been shy about sharing his opinions on WWE talent, but his latest remarks about Sami Zayn are turning heads. Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up, the long-time WWE commentator drew a bold comparison between Zayn and San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama — and didn’t stop there, going on to describe Zayn as an entitled and spoiled crybaby.

The Wembanyama comparison is an interesting one. The French big man is widely regarded as a generational talent, a player whose combination of size, skill, and instinct comes along once in a lifetime. If Cole meant it as a pure compliment, it would rank among the highest praise any WWE broadcaster has ever given a current roster member. But pairing that lofty comparison with “entitled and spoiled crybaby” adds a sharp edge — suggesting Cole sees Zayn as someone with enormous ability who doesn’t fully appreciate or handle his position with the right attitude.

Cole has been ringside for the overwhelming majority of Zayn’s WWE tenure, watching him grind through years as a midcard act before his remarkable rise — the Honorary Uce storyline with The Bloodline, a run as Intercontinental Champion, and a WrestleMania moment alongside Kevin Owens. Few people have had a closer vantage point on that journey.

Whether Cole’s comments are a work, part of a broader promotional push, or simply an unfiltered opinion from one of the industry’s most recognizable voices remains to be seen. Either way, the Zayn fanbase — a passionate and vocal group — is unlikely to let them go unnoticed.
