Lyra Valkyria Chokes Out Bayley At Saturday Night’s Main Event

Lyra Valkyria took her rivalry with Bayley to a brutal new level on Saturday night, defeating her former friend by submission at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event from Madison Square Garden in a match that turned into a vicious statement of intent.

The two former Damage CTRL partners went to war from the opening bell. Bayley drew first blood, landing a stiff punch that busted Valkyria open early. The Irish star fired back with a crushing leg drop, but Bayley refused to fold, answering with a Sunset Flip Powerbomb into the corner as she looked to close things out with the Rose Plant. Valkyria slipped away from the finisher attempt and turned a Bayley-to-Bayley suplex attempt into a sleeper hold, choking Bayley unconscious for the win.

Valkyria wasn’t finished once the bell rang. She continued the assault at ringside, reapplying the submission hold before driving Bayley into the steel steps with a Night Wing that left her rival motionless as officials rushed out to check on her condition.

It was a merciless, one-sided performance from Valkyria, who has increasingly shown a colder, more ruthless edge since her split from Bayley. The two were once aligned in Damage CTRL alongside Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane, but that partnership has long since curdled into one of the more personal feuds on the women’s roster. Saturday’s finish suggests Valkyria has no interest in letting the rivalry simmer — she wants it ended, decisively and on her terms.

With Bayley left laid out and Valkyria standing tall, the question now is whether Bayley will look for retribution or whether WWE considers this the emphatic final chapter of their story. Either way, Valkyria’s stock as a genuine threat in the women’s division just got a significant boost.
