Lyra Valkyria Breaks Silence on Bayley Attack, Claims She Spent a Year Being Held Back

Lyra Valkyria has finally spoken out about the moment that sent shockwaves through the WWE women’s division — and she has zero apologies for Bayley.

The seeds of the betrayal were planted on the June 22 edition of RAW in London, where Valkyria and Bayley fell short in their attempt to capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship from Paige and Brie Bella. After Valkyria was pinned to seal the loss, Bayley moved in to offer comfort — and was answered with a vicious assault that culminated in Valkyria planting her with the Nightwing.

On the June 29 episode of RAW, Valkyria delivered her explanation through a pre-recorded vignette. While she acknowledged that she let her emotions get the better of her in the moment, she was emphatic that she has no regrets about what she did to Bayley. Her reasoning runs deeper than one bad night in London.

Valkyria claimed she spent more than a year subordinating her own ambitions to benefit Bayley’s career — a sacrifice she now frames as a mistake. That stings even more given her individual accomplishments during that stretch, most notably becoming the inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion and cementing herself as one of RAW’s premier talents. In her view, the partnership with Bayley only increased the distance between where she stood and where she believed she deserved to be. She told the WWE Universe she finally “closed that gap” — a reference to what she described as her moment of reckoning — and brushed off any criticism, placing the blame for the entire situation squarely on Bayley.

Bayley has not yet responded publicly, but with Valkyria making her position this clear, there is little doubt this former friendship is finished. The two look set to collide in what could become one of the most emotionally charged rivalries RAW has seen in some time.
