One of lucha libre’s most storied factions is back. The June 20 episode of AAA on FOX ended in dramatic fashion when Karmen Petrovic, Angel, Berto, Bronco Nima, and Daga converged on El Grande Americano — the current AAA Mega Championship number one contender — and laid him out. The five then unzipped their hoodies to reveal Los Perros Del Mal t-shirts, sending the crowd in Mérida into a frenzy and officially signaling the rebirth of the legendary group.
All three WWE-affiliated members quickly took to social media to mark the moment. Berto echoed the faction’s classic rallying cry — “Where are the dogs?” — on his Instagram Story. Angel, who had drawn attention last month with a cryptic farewell-style “thank you” post that raised questions about his WWE status, was more emphatic: “I told you the wait was going to be f**king worth it.” Karmen Petrovic, the NXT star who was the first of the five shown on screen before the attack, posted on Twitter: “it’s bigger than just wrestling gracias a Dios.”
The significance of the reunion runs deep. The original Los Perros Del Mal disbanded after the tragic death of founder Perro Aguayo Jr. in 2015. The group’s alumni include current WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta and the late Hector Garza — the uncle of Angel and Berto, who have been paying tribute to the faction for years by wearing the group’s signature claw-mark chest paint. Of the five current members, Daga is the only one who was actually part of the original incarnation.
Former Perros Del Mal member Taya Valkyrie also weighed in, reflecting on the group’s legacy: “For those that don’t know the history, it goes deep. What we made, what we created, the cheers, the boos, the impact that Perros del Mal had on lucha libre history is undeniable. @SoyHijoDelPerro created a movement and I wouldn’t be where I am without him.”
Whether El Grande Americano’s number one contendership — earned by winning the 2026 Rey de Reyes — leads to a TripleMania 34 showdown with AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio remains to be seen. What’s clear is that Los Perros Del Mal’s return has immediately injected itself into the heart of AAA’s biggest storylines heading toward TripleMania 34 on September 13.
