Liv Morgan Dubs Title Loss ‘The Santiago Screwjob,’ Blames Becky Lynch

Liv Morgan isn’t ready to accept that she simply lost the WWE Women’s World Championship — she wants everyone to know she believes she was cheated out of it. On the September 21 episode of Raw, Morgan branded her title loss to Stephanie Vaquer as “the Santiago Screwjob,” pointing the finger at referee Becky Lynch for what she framed as a conspiracy against her rather than a fair result.

Morgan dropped the title to Vaquer earlier this month in an emotional homecoming match for the new champion in Santiago, Chile, with Lynch serving as the special guest referee for the bout. Morgan used her Raw platform to insist she still intends to get the title back, even while making clear she doesn’t think she lost it the right way.

That didn’t sit well with Lynch, who showed up to confront Morgan directly. Before turning her attention to the former champion, Lynch took a shot at Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh, mocking his look and his role within the stable. She then delivered a pointed line to Morgan, telling her she’d learned “it’s a lot harder to keep a title when you actually defend it” — a clear jab at Morgan’s reign and her history of dodging challengers during her time with the title.

Adding another layer to the situation, Vaquer used her own Raw appearance to position herself as a fighting champion. She confirmed she’s already accepted a rematch against Morgan and said she’s also open to giving Lynch a shot at the gold, effectively putting all three women on a collision course.

With Money in the Bank scheduled for Saturday, October 10 in New Orleans, the pieces appear to be lining up for a triple-threat match involving Vaquer, Morgan and Lynch. It’s a natural next step for a feud that’s already produced one of the more memorable title changes of the year, and giving Lynch a spot in the match would let WWE pay off the tension she’s created as both the referee blamed for the finish and a bona fide championship threat in her own right.

This is also classic Judgment Day messaging from Morgan — refusing to take accountability and instead recasting a loss as an injustice, which keeps her sympathetic to the faction while giving her a built-in excuse to chase the title again. Whether WWE actually confirms a three-way for Money in the Bank remains to be seen, but with Vaquer publicly welcoming challenges from both women, the build appears to be pointing exactly there. Expect more fallout on Raw in the coming weeks as WWE sets the stage for its next premium live event.
