La Hiedra, Laredo Kid Earn AAA Mixed Tag Title Shot

La Hiedra has finally earned another shot at AAA gold — and at Mr. Iguana — after teaming with Laredo Kid to win a number one contenders match on the July 18 edition of AAA on Fox.

The duo defeated Joaquin Wilde and Faby Apache in a high-stakes bout that came down to a bit of chaos in the closing moments. Laredo Kid distracted Apache long enough for La Hiedra to hit a stunner and pick up the pinfall, sealing their spot as the new top challengers for the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship.

That win sets up a title match against reigning champions Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana during AAA’s three-week Verano de Escándalo event series, which kicks off on July 25. La Hiedra has spent months chasing both the titles and Mr. Iguana specifically, making this an especially personal opportunity heading into the summer showcase.

The mixed tag title bout joins a stacked Verano de Escándalo card that also features Rey Fenix defending the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against Mini Vikingo, and Lady Flammer putting the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship on the line in a three-way with Lady Shani and La Catalina. El Grande Americano and Dominik Mysterio are also set to face off against Perros del Mal as part of the event series.

With Verano de Escándalo now less than a week away, AAA has three of its titles on the line across the multi-week run, giving the promotion a full slate of stakes to build toward as the summer event series gets underway.
