Kenny Omega Opens Up About Changed Mindset, Eyes Potential Will Ospreay Clash At AEW All In London

Kenny Omega is thinking carefully about what comes next — and a potential showdown with Will Ospreay at AEW All In is very much on his radar.

With AEW Forbidden Door on June 28 featuring Omega against Zack Sabre Jr. and Ospreay squaring off with Swerve Strickland in the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament final, the road to All In on August 30 at Wembley Stadium is taking shape. The tournament winner earns a shot at the AEW World Championship, meaning an Ospreay victory over Strickland would put him on a collision course with current champion MJF — unless Omega has something to say about that title picture first.

When the prospect of facing Ospreay at All In was put to him, Omega framed it less as a specific event goal and more as a personal test of where he stands today. Speaking candidly, he reflected on how his approach to the business has shifted dramatically from his peak years of bravado: “I know what I was capable of way back in the day, and I had the utmost confidence in saying, I know I’m the best. I remember the way that I would interact on social media, the way that I would talk to people in interviews. It’s changed so drastically from then until now. I know that I don’t have that blind confidence that I once had, because now everything needs to be more scientific. It needs to be more meticulous. I need to plan every move. My diet needs to be on point. The way that I train needs to be on point.”

Omega also spoke glowingly about the current depth of AEW’s title picture, rattling off a list of credible contenders: “We have MJF as our champion, but it could easily be Darby. It could easily be Kyle Fletcher. It could easily be Takeshita, Kevin Knight, Okada. Who knows? Maybe it could be me. It could be Ospreay. Swerve. We have so many possibilities where if that belt went around their waist, it wouldn’t look odd.”

Omega and Ospreay share a long and storied history, dating back to PWG in 2015 and continuing through a heated rivalry in NJPW that included title exchanges at Wrestle Kingdom 17 and Forbidden Door 2023. The idea of them crossing paths again — this time with the AEW World Championship potentially on the line — is the kind of matchup that writes itself.
