Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts Confirms He Has Parted Ways With AEW

Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts has revealed that his run with All Elite Wrestling has come to an end. In a new interview posted by veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter, the Hall of Fame legend confirmed he is no longer employed by the company.

Roberts was candid but warm when reflecting on his tenure, saying, “Loved it, loved it,” before adding, “I just finished up working for him.” The brief glimpse into his feelings paints a picture of a man who departed on good terms rather than under any cloud of controversy.

Roberts had been a recognizable presence in AEW since the promotion’s earlier years, most notably serving as a manager and advisor alongside Lance Archer. His involvement lent the company a sense of old-school credibility — Roberts is widely regarded as one of the greatest characters and promo artists in the history of professional wrestling, and his mere presence carried weight with fans who grew up watching him terrorize opponents with his python Damien in the WWF during the 1980s and 1990s.

At this point, no details have emerged regarding what prompted the end of his AEW contract or whether any other promotions are in discussions with him. Given his legendary status, it would be no surprise to see Roberts surface elsewhere in some capacity, whether on the independent circuit or with another major organization.

For now, one of wrestling’s most iconic figures walks away from AEW with nothing but good words — and the door, at least publicly, appears to have been left open on friendly terms.
