Jack Perry Still Without New AEW Deal, But Tony Khan Insists ‘The Plan Is For Jack Perry To Be In AEW For A Long Time’

Jack Perry’s contract situation in AEW remains unresolved, with the former TNT and AEW World Tag Team Champion still not having put pen to paper on a new deal as of this morning — even as AEW president Tony Khan publicly expressed his desire to keep Perry on the roster indefinitely.

Perry’s contract was reported last week to be on the verge of expiration, and no agreement has been reached since. The development is notable given Perry’s deep roots with the promotion. He has been part of the AEW roster since the company’s inception, competing at the very first AEW pay-per-view, Double or Nothing in 2019, and went on to capture the TNT, AEW World Tag Team, National, and FTW Championships during his tenure.

Despite the unsigned status, Perry competed on this week’s Dynamite, facing Zack Sabre Jr. And on the Forbidden Door media call, Khan was asked directly about Perry’s future. His answer was unambiguous.

“The plan for AEW and Jack is for Jack to be here for a long time,” Khan said. “I have believed that Jack is a great wrestler for many years and I continue to feel that way. I like Jack very much, personally. He has a very bright future in wrestling and a great mind for wrestling. It’s been really gratifying for me and fans — the return of Jungle Jack Perry and seeing fans embrace Jack and the great matches he’s been having. The plan is for Jack Perry to be in AEW for a long time, so that’s going to happen.”

The stakes extend beyond Perry’s individual career. He is one of AEW’s original Four Pillars — a group that also includes MJF, Darby Allin, and Sammy Guevara — and his departure would be the first crack in that foundational quartet. MJF re-signed with AEW in 2024, making Perry’s situation the most prominent open contract question on the current roster.

For now, the two sides appear to remain in limbo, with Khan’s optimism yet to be reflected on paper.
