The IWGP Tag Team Champions are ready to fight — they just need someone willing to answer the call.
With the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door card continuing to take shape ahead of the June 28 event, HENARE took to social media to issue an open challenge on behalf of himself and tag team partner Great-O-Khan. The United Empire duo currently hold the IWGP Tag Team Championships and are looking for a match at the joint pay-per-view.
The challenge is a notable one. Forbidden Door has historically served as a showcase for some of the most compelling cross-promotional matchups in recent memory, and a title defense from Great-O-Khan and HENARE would fit comfortably into that tradition. The IWGP Tag Team titles carry considerable prestige, and dropping them into the Forbidden Door environment opens the door — no pun intended — for challengers from either the AEW or NJPW rosters to step forward.
HENARE and Great-O-Khan have carved out a formidable run as champions within NJPW, and the open challenge format suggests confidence. Whether a team from AEW’s deep tag division or an NJPW rival ends up accepting remains to be seen, but the gauntlet has been thrown.
