Former Wyatt Sicks Debut in TNA, Attack The Hardys

TNA Wrestling pulled back the curtain on its latest mystery angle on Thursday Night iMPACT, revealing Samuel Shaw and Joseph Sawyer — the two performers formerly known as members of The Wyatt Sicks in WWE — as the shadowy attackers who had been targeting the roster in recent weeks. Debuting under the new name “Syx,” the pair made their presence felt immediately by laying out The Hardys in their first official appearance for the company.

Shaw and Sawyer were part of WWE’s supernatural Wyatt Sicks faction until the group was released during the promotion’s talent cuts back in April. Since then, both men had kept busy on the independent scene — Sawyer working dates for GCW and Shaw returning to the ring with House of Glory — but Thursday’s appearance marks their first step into a major national promotion since leaving WWE. Targeting The Hardys right out of the gate gives “Syx” an instant rivalry with one of wrestling’s most decorated tag teams and signals that TNA intends to build them as a legitimate threat rather than a novelty act.

The debut also raises an obvious question: are Shaw and Sawyer the whole story, or just the first pieces of a larger reunion? The Wyatt Sicks as a unit included other performers who remain free agents, most notably Bo Dallas, who worked the gimmick as Uncle Howdy and has not resurfaced in a wrestling ring since his release. Given that Shaw and Sawyer are already operating as a rebranded version of that stable, it wouldn’t be shocking if TNA eventually pulled Dallas into the fold to complete the picture.

The broader trend here is bigger than just one act. TNA has spent the last two years quietly stockpiling former WWE talent, particularly on the women’s side, with names like Daria Rae, Elayna Black, Indi Hartwell, Lei Ying Lee and Zoey Serrano all landing in the Knockouts division. That pattern makes it easy to see why speculation is swirling around other recently released WWE names who’ve stayed sharp on the indies — former Wyatt Sicks member Nikki Cross, now competing as Nikki Storm and co-owner of PROGRESS Wrestling alongside her husband Big Damo; former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Dakota Kai, now working as Charlie; and the pairing of Malakai Black and Zelina Vega, now Xelina, who have both been active on the British independent circuit since their exits.

None of those names have been confirmed for TNA, but the Shaw and Sawyer debut fits a clear pattern of the company using recognizable, recently-released WWE talent to add star power without breaking the bank. If TNA is indeed rebuilding pieces of the Wyatt Sicks under a new banner, it stands to reason the promotion could keep dipping into that same pool of free agents in the months ahead.

For now, all eyes turn to how “Syx” is positioned coming out of the gate — and whether The Hardys’ new rivals stay a two-man operation or grow into something much bigger.
