Danhausen Leads ‘Uncursing Parade’ Ahead Of WWE Return

Danhausen brought his singular brand of theatrics to the streets of New York City on Saturday, July 18, leading what he billed as an “uncursing parade” ahead of his match on WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The show, held at Madison Square Garden, features Danhausen in a singles bout against J.D. McDonagh. True to form, Danhausen turned the pre-show hype into a spectacle of its own, marching through the city with the parade serving as a lighthearted, in-character promotional stunt tied to his eccentric persona — one built around curses, hexes, and, apparently, the occasional public uncursing.

Danhausen has become known across the independent scene and now within WWE for leaning fully into his bizarre, comedic character work, and stunts like this have long been part of how he connects with fans outside the ring. Marching through one of the biggest wrestling cities in the world just hours before stepping into the ring at the world’s most famous arena fits neatly into that tradition.

His opponent, J.D. McDonagh, has carved out his own role in WWE as a steady hand in the ring, and the two figure to offer a stylistic contrast on a Saturday Night’s Main Event card built around variety. Details on how the rest of the card shapes up beyond this matchup were not immediately available.

Whether the “uncursing” bit carries over into commentary or backstage segments once the show airs remains to be seen, but it’s a fitting piece of business from a performer who has built a career on turning the absurd into appointment viewing. Fans in the Garden — and those tuning in from home — will find out soon enough whether Danhausen’s curse-lifting ritual actually pays off between the ropes.
