Colby Covington says a possible move to WWE is more than just talk. The former UFC interim welterweight champion revealed that he has already spoken with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque about a potential run in the company, though he stressed that nothing is close to finalized and his current priority lies elsewhere.
Speaking with Brian Mazique, Covington explained that his focus right now is on Real American Freestyle, the wrestling promotion he has personally invested in. He’s set to face Arman Tsarukyan on July 18 at RAF11 in Milwaukee, a matchup between two undefeated competitors. Covington said RAF is where he envisions ending his competitive career, even as he left the door open to future fights in UFC.
“I’ve had some calls with Triple H and the WWE, so that’s a potential possibility in the future as well,” Covington said. “But I’m all in on RAF… I want to see the future of wrestling thrive and prosper.”
Covington, known for his brash, attention-grabbing persona both inside and outside the octagon, has long danced along the line between MMA and sports entertainment. He noted that his amateur wrestling background and comfort on the microphone — something he credits to his prior appearance on TNA Impact alongside Bobby Lashley — would help ease any transition into pro wrestling.
“Being able to shoot a promo is everything,” Covington said. “I feel like I would be very comfortable with that. And then the wrestling, I’ve been wrestling my whole life… I feel like I would pick that up very quick.”
Where he anticipates the real challenge is the WWE grind itself. Covington pointed to the promotion’s relentless touring schedule — Raw, SmackDown, premium live events and international travel — as the toughest hurdle for any outsider trying to make the leap.
“I think the biggest challenge would definitely be the travel schedule,” he said, adding that staying mentally sharp through 300-plus days on the road would be difficult to adjust to.
For now, Covington’s attention is squarely on Tsarukyan in Milwaukee, but he made clear that WWE remains a genuine option down the line if his combat sports career winds down.
