Chad Gable Calls GUNTHER His Wrestling Soulmate

Chad Gable is giving major credit to one of his fiercest past rivals. Speaking with Maxx Fuller of KFAN, Gable was asked to name his wrestling soulmate — the in-ring partner whose chemistry with him stands above the rest — and he didn’t hesitate to point to GUNTHER.

“GUNTHER, so far,” Gable said, reflecting on the connection the two have built inside the ring.

The bond traces back to 2023, when Gable and GUNTHER squared off three times in a memorable series over the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Those matches helped cement GUNTHER’s reign as one of the most dominant Intercontinental Champions in recent memory, while also showcasing Gable’s ability to hang with — and push — one of the promotion’s most punishing in-ring workers.

For Gable, a former Olympian known for his physicality and technical grappling, praising GUNTHER’s chemistry is no small compliment. GUNTHER has built a reputation as one of WWE’s most respected performers, with his rugged, hard-hitting style drawing comparisons to old-school European strongmen. The two clearly found something special when they collided, and it seems that mutual respect has stuck with Gable well after their program ended.

Whether the two ever get a chance to run it back remains to be seen, but Gable’s comments make clear that their 2023 series left a lasting impression. For fans who remember those Intercontinental Championship battles, the “wrestling soulmate” label feels well earned.
