Backstage Competition Intensifying Among WWE’s Top Stars Ahead of SummerSlam

With SummerSlam on the horizon, the jockeying for position inside WWE is reportedly getting just as heated behind the curtain as it is on screen. A report circulating in wrestling circles indicates that several of the company’s biggest names are actively pushing for stronger creative roles, premium television time, and main event positioning at one of the year’s most significant pay-per-view events.

The internal competition comes at a particularly fluid moment for WWE’s main event scene. Sami Zayn sent shockwaves through the industry by capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Cody Rhodes and Gunther at Night of Champions. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns is set to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam in what shapes up as one of the marquee bouts on the card.

Adding another layer of intrigue is King of the Ring winner Oba Femi, who made the surprising decision to pass on his guaranteed world title shot in order to settle unfinished business with Brock Lesnar. The two are scheduled to collide inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam, with the series currently deadlocked at one win apiece, raising the stakes considerably for both men.

The women’s division figures to be equally prominent leading into SummerSlam. Liv Morgan, Tiffany Stratton, and Queen of the Ring IYO SKY are all expected to feature prominently in major storylines, with the injured Rhea Ripley also looming as a potential factor when she returns to action.

As of now, WWE has not announced which bouts will serve as the headline matches across the two-night SummerSlam event, nor has the company revealed how the card will be divided — leaving room for the reported backstage maneuvering to continue shaping the final lineup. With so much on the line and so many credible contenders in the mix, the race for the top spots at SummerSlam is far from settled.
