Alex Hammerstone’s bulldozing run through Major League Wrestling is about to meet its stiffest test yet. This Saturday on MLW FUSION, Hammerstone squares off against lucha libre legend Último Guerrero in a match that carries real weight in the MLW World Heavyweight Title picture.
Hammerstone has been on a tear lately, most notably inserting himself into the scheduled clash between Killer Kross and Matt Riddle for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship and derailing it entirely. Rather than waiting for an opportunity, he’s been manufacturing them — and the move has put him squarely in the middle of the title conversation.
Standing across from him Saturday, though, is a man who has seen and done just about everything professional wrestling has to offer. Último Guerrero has built one of the most respected careers in lucha libre history, earning his reputation through battles with icons and a relentless physical style that has broken plenty of contenders who underestimated him. Age and experience have only sharpened him.
The stakes are clear. A Hammerstone victory would further cement his case as the next challenger for the MLW World Heavyweight Title. A Guerrero win, on the other hand, would send a loud message that Hammerstone’s rise can be stopped — and that the legend still has plenty left in the tank.
