Oddyssey Battles Big Damo for Opera Cup Semifinal Spot

Oddyssey’s Opera Cup run continues on MLW FUSION, where he’s set to face Big Damo for a berth in the tournament’s semifinals. The match airs Thursday, November 5, at 8 p.m. ET, streaming free on Tubi, with Josef Samael expected to be in Damo’s corner.

Oddyssey enters the match off a win over Okumura, using his return from Japan to carve out space for himself in MLW’s heavyweight picture. Beating Okumura already put him on CONTRA’s radar as a threat; taking out Big Damo, a CONTRA soldier himself, would be an even louder statement. For Oddyssey, this is a chance to turn a strong start into something resembling a real push — a defining moment that separates him from the pack of super heavyweights jockeying for position in MLW’s tournament scene.

Damo, known as the Beast of Belfast, brings an entirely different kind of threat. This isn’t a size mismatch so much as a clash between two big men who won’t be rattled by the other’s bulk. When two competitors of that stature meet and neither can simply overpower the other, the match tends to come down to who dictates pace, positioning, and the smaller technical battles inside the bigger physical one.

The CONTRA angle adds another layer. Samael and his faction have made no secret of their desire to claim the Opera Cup, and having already lost Okumura to Oddyssey in this tournament, CONTRA has clear incentive to see Damo close the door on him here. A loss would mean CONTRA drops a second soldier from Cup contention, while a win keeps their footprint in the bracket and removes a rising threat in one move. Samael’s presence at ringside also raises the question of whether CONTRA will let this one play out on a level field, given the group’s history of tipping matches in its favor when the stakes call for it.

For Oddyssey, the appeal of this storyline is straightforward: every step he takes through the bracket against CONTRA-aligned opponents builds his case as a singular obstacle to the black flag’s plans, rather than just a win over a single soldier. Advancing past Damo wouldn’t just be a tournament victory — it would be a direct shot at CONTRA’s broader ambitions in MLW.

Only one of these two giants moves on to the Opera Cup semifinals. Whether it’s Oddyssey continuing his breakout run or Damo keeping CONTRA’s interests alive, the winner will have already cleared two hurdles that few others in the tournament can claim. MLW FUSION airs Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on Tubi, with replays available on demand and across YouTube, VEEPS, NJPW World, and Amazon Prime Video.
