WWE Could See Title Changes Across SmackDown, Halloween Havoc and Crown Jewel

WWE Could See Title Changes Across SmackDown, Halloween Havoc and Crown Jewel

WWE has a stacked run of championship matches over the next week, and while most of the expected outcomes look fairly predictable, there’s a real case to be made for at least a couple of surprises along the way.

The first opportunity comes on Saturday, October 31, at NXT’s Halloween Havoc, where Wren Sinclair gets her first-ever shot at Kelani Jordan’s NXT Women’s Championship. On paper, Jordan looks like the safer bet to retain, but Halloween Havoc has a recent history of shocking title changes — Tatum Paxley pulled off just that a year ago. There’s also a wrinkle worth watching: Jordan recently took part in a backstage segment with IYO SKY during Raw programming that aired on NXT, the kind of interaction that often signals a call-up to the main roster is brewing. If WWE is positioning Jordan for a move, Halloween Havoc would be a logical spot to send the title elsewhere.

Over on the main roster, Nikki Bella finally gets her championship opportunity against Chelsea Green on SmackDown on Friday, October 30, the culmination of a chase that began when Bella turned on Paige at SummerSlam. Reports have indicated WWE has been pleased with the attention Bella’s return has generated on social media, and the company appears eager to keep building around her. Still, the timing works against a title change here — Green’s championship is already locked into a heavily hyped match against Liv Morgan at Crown Jewel, which makes it tough to see WWE pulling the title away from that program just days before the show. A shocking Bella win isn’t impossible, but it would require scrapping plans that have clearly been in motion for weeks.

The most logical candidate for an actual title change may be the World Tag Team Championship. Bron Breakker and Austin Theory, representing the Vision, are set to defend the belts at Crown Jewel next weekend for the first time since taking them from the Street Profits more than 100 days ago. The titles haven’t exactly been a focal point of WWE programming since then, and with the company reportedly shifting its attention back toward building Breakker as a singles star, there’s little reason to keep him tethered to a tag title reign that hasn’t been prioritized. Je’von Evans and Penta, together known as the 946, stand out as the obvious landing spot. Raw’s tag division has been thin for months, and putting new, over champions atop it — even for a short reign — could give the division some much-needed juice heading into the new year.

None of these outcomes are locked in, and WWE has a long track record of zigging when fans expect a zag. But between a red-hot NXT Women’s Championship bout, a Nikki Bella grudge match with major business implications, and a tag title picture that badly needs a reset, there’s a genuine chance at least one belt finds a new home before Crown Jewel wraps up. Fans won’t have to wait long to find out — Halloween Havoc, SmackDown and Crown Jewel will settle the question soon enough.
