Report: Bowens, Ortiz, Scorpio Sky Could Be TNA Targets

TNA Wrestling has been one of the most active promotions on the free-agent market this fall, recently landing Shayna Baszler and Shotzi Blackheart while locking up Daria Rae and Santino Marella on new deals. Now, with speculation building around which AEW names might have expiring contracts, three familiar faces are being floated as potential future TNA signings: Anthony Bowens, Ortiz, and Scorpio Sky.

Bowens is the most complicated case of the three. His AEW deal was reportedly set to expire October 1 alongside former tag partner Max Caster, but his status has been muddied by Caster himself, who indicated during a recent fan convention appearance that Bowens remained under AEW contract. Bowens is also still listed on AEW’s official roster page, which runs counter to Caster’s situation — Caster parted ways with AEW and made a one-off appearance for TNA at Bound for Glory. If Bowens truly is a free agent, he’d bring a strong résumé and untapped upside to whichever company lands him, whether in a midcard run or something bigger.

Ortiz presents a different kind of intrigue. Before AEW’s 2019 launch, he and Mike Santana were a core piece of TNA as the reformed Latin American Xchange, capturing the TNA World Tag Team Championships four times alongside Diamante, Homicide and Konnan. The duo split in AEW back in 2023, and Santana’s subsequent return to TNA turned into one of the best redemption arcs in recent memory — he won the TNA World Championship in 2025 before moving on to WWE this past summer. The two are reportedly not on good terms personally, but if Ortiz’s AEW deal does lapse this fall, TNA would be a logical landing spot for him to chase a similar career revival on his own terms.

Then there’s Scorpio Sky, an AEW original whose contract is also said to be winding down in October. Sky was booked as one of the promotion’s strongest acts outside the main event picture in its early years, becoming an inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champion with Frankie Kazarian and a two-time TNT Champion. Injuries and extended absences slowed his momentum, though he found a foothold again over the past year as part of the SkyFlight stable with Dante and Darius Martin, Christopher Daniels and Leila Grey. At 43, Sky still looks sharp physically, and a move to TNA could reunite him with longtime partner Kazarian, who remains a fixture there.

None of this is confirmed, and AEW’s roster page still lists Bowens as under contract, so there’s real uncertainty about who actually becomes available. But TNA’s recent buying spree suggests the promotion has both the appetite and the budget to keep adding proven names, and all three of these performers would fit roles the company has shown interest in filling. With TNA clearly positioning itself as a destination for displaced AEW talent, it’s worth watching whether any of these three actually follow the same path Santana carved out before them.
