Tiffany Stratton’s Money in the Bank Cash-In Teases Draw Scrutiny

Tiffany Stratton is once again carrying the Money in the Bank briefcase, and once again WWE is leaning heavily on the cash-in tease rather than the cash-in itself. Stratton, who first won the briefcase in 2024, captured it for a second time this year, and in the span of less than a week she has already attempted two cash-ins without either one connecting.

The most recent came on Raw, when Stratton tried to snatch Liv Morgan’s Women’s World Championship, only for Dominik Mysterio to pull his on-screen partner out of harm’s way before the referee could make the title change official. It wasn’t an isolated moment, either — Penta also teased cashing in his own opportunity on Sami Zayn during the same episode, and that attempt fizzled out just as quickly. Three teased cash-ins inside one week, and none of them have actually happened.

If the scenario sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Back on the October 14, 2024 episode of Raw, Stratton made an almost identical attempt on Liv Morgan’s title, with Dominik again yanking Morgan out of the way at the last second. The difference then was context: Stratton was aligned with Nia Jax, and it was obvious she was building toward turning on Jax rather than actually beating Morgan. Two years later, WWE appears to be running the same blueprint, just with Chelsea Green standing in for Jax. Stratton is teasing designs on Morgan’s Women’s World Championship while the expected endgame remains her turning on her current ally, Green, to take the Women’s Championship instead.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with a predictable story — not every swerve needs to be shocking — but running the exact same framework twice in two years risks feeling like a retread rather than a fresh chapter for a top heel act. Money in the Bank is supposed to be one of WWE’s signature tools for unpredictability, the ever-present threat that can upend a title picture at any moment. That tension only works if the tease occasionally pays off instead of becoming a recurring false alarm. Lean on it too often without a payoff, and audiences start anticipating the save rather than fearing the cash-in.

With Crown Jewel on the horizon and both Green and Morgan expected to be in the ring together, that event sets up as the logical spot for Stratton to finally cash in for real. It would also mirror her first MITB cycle, which similarly built toward a cash-in at Crown Jewel in 2024 — though that attempt also came up short. This time around, letting Stratton actually succeed would both differentiate the story from her first run and kick off the heel turn WWE has clearly been building toward. The longer the company strings along cash-in teases without delivering, the more it risks diluting one of its most valuable storytelling devices — and Stratton’s title win needs to land eventually for the angle to mean anything.
